Overview
In the Internet today, a small number of key Autonomous Systems (ASes) are hegemonic and carry over 90% of traffic. In our preliminary work, we have shown that several such key ASes (such as CHINANET, MTS PJSC, etc.) are in countries with strict Internet censors. What happens when censorship mechanisms are deployed inside such a key AS? Might the censorship and surveillance mechanisms of some countries affect citizens of other countries as well? This project is intended to deepen our understanding of this threat and to collect concrete evidence of such collateral damage.
