Summer Internships 2026

The Trust Lab Summer Internship Program continues to provide an invaluable bridge between academia and practical research. Open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, the internship gives participants hands-on experience in the domain of Digital Trust.

The program spans two months and requires onsite participation. We received over 6000 applications in just a few weeks after opening this time around.

Summer of Code 2026

The Summer of Code is an annual program where participants contribute to the development of a Free and Open Source Software (FOSS)-based Security Operations Centre (SOC). The work involves leveraging tools like Apache Kafka and the ELK Stack, while exploring both rule-based and machine-learning powered anomaly detection techniques.

The List of Projects the students worked on this year were:

ACM Summer School 2026

Continuing our partnership with ACM for hosting summer schools over the past two year, we hosted the ACM India Summer School 2026 on Foundations of Hardware Security at IIT Bombay from June 17 — June 21 . This week long Summer School is designed for undergraduate, postgraduate, and early-stage PhD students

 The goals of this summer school were to:

  1. Equip students with the knowledge and practical skills required to securely implement cryptographic and security-sensitive algorithms in both hardware and software, and to rigorously evaluate their resistance against side-channel and fault-based attacks.
  2. Provide hands-on experience in mounting and analyzing side-channel attacks, fault attacks, and timing-based attacks
  3. Teach practical countermeasures, including masking, hiding, and shuffling techniques
  4. Introduce architectural and system-level defenses such as Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) and Hardware Security Modules (HSMs)
  5. Help develop the ability to critically evaluate the security of hardware and software implementations against real-world attack models

Faculty Development Program (FDP) 2026 ​

IITB Trust Lab’s first ever Faculty Development Program (FDP) 2026 was held in June, bringing together top-performing computer science and engineering faculty from across India. Organized in collaboration with ICAN, the initiative was designed to empower educators with the tools and knowledge needed to bring foundational and cutting-edge cybersecurity concepts directly into university classrooms nationwide.

The journey began with a rigorous, week-long online lecture series delivered by some of the country’s leading cybersecurity experts. Faculty participants engaged in deep-dive theoretical foundations and contemporary security paradigms. Based on their performance, active engagement, and assessments during this initial phase, an exceptional cohort of candidates was selected to advance to the final campus phase.

The program culminated in a high-energy, week-long intensive residential training at the IIT Bombay campus. Participants immersed themselves in hands-on laboratory exercises, advanced technical sessions, and collaborative problem-solving modules. The initiative wrapped up on a high note, equipping educators to elevate cybersecurity pedagogy and shape the next generation of engineering talent across regional institutions.
